pelvic floor physical therapy for men| erectile dysfunction therapy

What is chronic prostatitis? Why could it be a pelvic floor dysfunction?

Chronic prostatitis or chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) is defined as pain, pressure, or discomfort localised in the pelvic region, perineum, or genitalia that lasts for more than three months, without the presence of uropathogenic bacteria.

Have you been dealing with burning with urination, increased urinary frequency, abnormal urinary urgency, pain with ejaculation? Have you been to a number of urology appointments and have been diagnosed with a UTI / Prostatitis and been on rounds of antibiotics? Maybe, they seem to help a little bit but then the symptoms come back again. It could be your pelvic floor muscles.

So, what is happening in pelvic floor dysfunction?

The pelvic floor constitutes a group of muscles along the external genital area and also internally when accessed through the rectum. These muscles neighbor nerves, veins, arteries. Sometimes,  there is a sensitivity/ tension, neural upregulation or an issue with how the muscles are contracting or relaxing. Eventually, people can end up with chronic prostatitis.

Whats the research behind pelvic floor therapy?
