What does male pelvic floor therapy look like?

Our Comprehensive Pelvic Floor Evaluation

At EmpowerHeal Physical Therapy, our evaluations last 80-90 minutes. This gives us ample time to get a full detailed history of what’s bothering you, complete a thorough evaluation, and begin treatment on the very first visit.

Our pelvic floor evaluations start with an assessment of your spine, hips, visceral soft tissue mobility. We then move on (if and only when it is appropriate) to external examination of your pelvic area and an internal rectal exam of the pelvic floor muscles. During the  internal assessment, we assess strength, tension, trigger points, flexibility and coordination of the muscles.

We educate our patients about why we are doing what we are doing and only move at the pace at which each individual patient is comfortable.

We use high quality manual therapy , strengthening and relaxation exercises, pelvic and hip exercises, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, dietary changes and collaborate with other providers to take a holistic approach to helping you feel better.

Your therapist at EmpowerHeal Physical Therapy is extensively trained in assessing, diagnosing and treating your pelvic floor issues. We understand that this might be a complex and uncomfortable aspect of health to discuss. However, there is hope and there can be healing.
